Third-Party Sexual Harassment
Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 10:38AM Here’s an example of third-party sexual harassment. Let’s say you’re a young lady who’s waiting on tables at a restaurant. You get this one table that makes you feel uncomfortable. When you talk to your boss about the situation, you’re told to get back out there. You continue serving the table and while you’re placing a beer down one of the customers grabs you by the hair, pulls you right against him, grabs your breast and puts his mouth on your breast. Sounds like an extreme case, right? It’s a true story. It happened at a Pizza Hut and went to court, Lockard v. Pizza Hut in 1998. Since management failed to remedy the situation, Pizza Hut was found liable.
